If you don’t already know who he is, Jim Halpert is a fictional character played by actor John Krasinski on NBC’s “The Office” who works as a paper salesperson at Dunder Mifflin in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

So why do I like him? Because he is casual, easy-going, non-chalant, and kind of a slacker. He has got a great sense of humor and is fun for others to be around. He is friendly and polite to people; he treats them like people and respects them. Plus, he’s one of only a few sane characters that work in the office, a contrast with the extreme characters. I can relate to Jim because he is level-headed, usually the only one amongst his coworkers. He has admirable traits that we wish we could be more like.

I think we see the casual and relaxed Jim who takes things in stride despite his insane work environment and want to be more like him. He has an ironic and satirical sense of humor and frequently uses a surprised expression to comment on an outrageous situation by turning to the camera with a look of shock and disbelief, shaking his head commenting that what just happened wasn’t right and shouldn’t have.

Jim Halpert’s character is defined by his inability to get stressed or worried no matter what happens around him.
