Life is a Game

Life is a game. You don’t have control over the game or its rules, but you do have control over your life. You have limited time and energy, though you don’t know how much. You decide how you spend your life and what you do with it. You decide your focus and priorities and what is important to you. You can spend your life doing what you want to, or what somebody else wants you to do.

The winners of this game of life are not focused on money. Those who are happy are the ones that win. Having the most money can’t make you win. Your success is not relative to others. It is all about what you do. Your goals, dreams, and aspirations are determined by you, and what you do determines whether you achieve them or not, whether you believe in yourself and work towards them or become discouraged and give up on them.

How far you go in life is determined by you and the decisions you make and the actions you take. Whether you get what you want out of life or not is not determined by anybody but you.

Life is a game, so don’t take yourself too seriously. Things that bother you are often not as important as you think they are. Don’t spend your life playing the wrong game for points that don’t matter, and don’t be focused only on your score. The score isn’t important. You should focus on enjoying life, learning about it, and helping others along the way. Make the most of it. That is what winning and success are. That is how to win this game of life.

What Has Happened To Democracy?

Posted on June 8, 2008. Filed under: Misc | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

The current state of democracy is an abomination of what democracy means, what it is all about. It is more an elected autocracy where a king or queen is elected for a term to make all the decisions. The government is supposed to serve the people, not the people serving the government. The government cannot exist without the people, period. But it is possible for the people to exist without the government. Think about that.

What Democracy is About:

Democracy isn’t about laying on your couch and getting up to vote every 4 years. Democracy is about citizens’ involvement and autonomy. It is about activism, getting involved at the local, grassroots level. Democracy is about citizens taking an active role in the country, even though manning the couch is easier.

Change:

Governments are bureaucratic. They are not effecient and they are not effective. They spend a lot of resources and don’t get much done. You cannot rely on the government to solve problems or bring change. Change happens on the local level with regular people.

It doesn’t matter who the president is
; what matters is what the people do. People taking action about things they are passionate about is far more effective than any government or president could be.

It is up to the people, you and I, to make the changes we want, not simply vote for whoever promises to bring the change. The people do have a say, but nobody will hear you unless you voice it. Join or start groups and organizations that get involved to take control and make the changes they want.

Get involved:

Take action on matters that you strongly believe in.
Don’t expect or assume that the government will make the change for you; it won’t.

Spending Your Time

Posted on June 8, 2008. Filed under: Life | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

Time is a commodity, it is our most precious resource. You have a limited amount and you’re not getting any more of it. Be frugal with it, not frivolous. Spend your time doing things that are important to you and you enjoy doing.

You can’t get your time back once you spend it. Never waste time. That is the worst thing you could do to yourself. It is something you’ll regret later on. Nobody has extra time to pass or waste. You might as well enjoy it rather than spending your life passing time. Life is too short to waste.

Free your time:

You shouldn’t have to fight others for YOUR time. All 24 hours are yours. You decide how you spend it. Don’t let others decide for you. They will take all of your time, leaving none for you. Make sure you schedule some time for yourself each day, no exceptions. Living without taking time for yourself is like working without taking breaks: it’s not fun, it’s not productive or efficient, and you’ll burn out if you try it for very long.

Say “No” once in a while. Take your time back. Say “no” to others and “yes” to yourself. Don’t feel guilty or selfish; it’s your time and you deserve it more than anybody else. You should never be too busy to take time for you. Focus on making your life less busy and having more time for yourself. Don’t cheat yourself. Living without time for yourself isn’t living.

What matters is how you use what time you have. Your time is your life. Start living. Don’t wait for a better time. Make time now; you won’t regret it.

Eric 🙂

I’m Focusing Outward Now…

Posted on June 5, 2008. Filed under: Misc | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

Okay, I totally missed the entire point of having a blog… Well, I got half of it: I was sharing my thoughts and feelings with you, but I wasn’t listening to what you have to say. So from now on, I’m going to focus more on reading and learning than on posting. I’ve got a lot to learn about life and can’t help others unless I learn more.

I am still going to post daily, but I am going to read much, much more.  That’s right.  I’m going to be reading your blog and posting comments.  I am going to read and comment until my eyes and fingers are sore! Your blogs are great and there is so much to learn.  I’m humbled and am just realizing how little I know.

I will try to respond to all of your comments on my blog,  but I may not be able to.  So if you post a comment, know that I appreciate your encouragement very much!

Thanks,

Eric 🙂

Why I Do It

Posted on June 5, 2008. Filed under: Misc | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

Thanks everybody who reads and comments on my blog. It is very encouraging for me. Some of you may be wondering why I write this blog.

Well, I do it because it feels good helping others. I do it because of the comments I get and the way people feel when they read my blog. I do it because it is something that I can share with others and hopefully benefit them in some way.

After a little while I began to look at the search phrases people used to find my blog. It broke my heart when I saw the things they searched for. I don’t know anything about these people at all, other than they have problems and want to get their lives on track again. People are looking for answers. People want and need help. Some people feel desperate and out of options, not knowing what to do. There is too much unnecessary pain an suffering in the world. These people do not need to struggle when others can help them. I’ve said it before: Life can be a struggle, but it doesn’t have to be. That’s why I do it.

I am glad to offer hope and inspiration to those who need it and whatever else I can to make other people’s lives better. It is definitely worth it.

Eric

Live Passionately!

Posted on June 4, 2008. Filed under: Inspirational, Life, You | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |

Live with passion and do what interests you and what you enjoy. Do what you love doing. Do what you are passionate about, and be passionate about what you do.

Live your life with enthusiasm and energy, it will be much more rewarding. You will be happy and enjoy life if you are true to yourself and aggressively pursue your passions. Life can be a full and rich experience if you stay focused on the things that are important to you.

Go out and get what you want, regardless of the obstacles or challenges. It is your life and it is up to you how you want to live it and what you do with it. Don’t let anybody stop you from following your dreams or going after your goals. That is what life is all about!

Eric 🙂
